It is a great honor to begin my work as the CEO of Music x Media’s. Over the years I have gotten a chance to follow and comment on Music x Media’s activities, and now the opportunity to be at the heart of its development feels like a privilege.
My own path to this job has been through various roles in the music industry: artist, agent, publicist and music journalist. Thanks to my work experience, I have learned to look at the industry from many angles, its strengths, challenges, and constant change. My work has always been guided by an investigative approach, a desire to understand, ask questions, and also highlight flaws so that we can build a better music world together.
Music x Media is much more than an annual event. It is a platform for growth and a meeting place that aims to be present for the music industry throughout the year, listening, communicating, connecting and inspiring. Our goal is also to develop the business side of the music industry and find new, sustainable operating models that support the industry’s vitality in the long run. This can mean for example trying out new forms of collaboration, building shared learning environments or creating opportunities where creators and companies can meet each other authentically and openly.
I want to make sure that Music x Media is built to look like its participants: a diverse, honest and curious common space where everyone can feel heard and where everyone feels safe. The music industry has a great amount of expertise, enthusiasm and will to develop, but also sensitivity to confrontation. I hope we can stop to think about, for example, this matter through open conversation, listening and learning from others. I believe that it is exactly from these encounters where trust and new shared direction come from.
For me solidarity, justice, openness and critical thinking are important values. We live in a time where speaking about your values and examining them is essential, both as individuals and as a community. I believe that recognising your own values and acting on them creates us safety and clarity in the constant change.
I look forward to our discussions, insights and actions through which we can build an even stronger, more open and sustainable future for the music industry.
This article is my greeting, but also an invite.
