Finland's Cultural Forces Workshop

In June, Ukrainian cultural troupes performed in Helsinki for an audience of over a thousand. They left us with a thought that we are now bringing home: culture is not something to be protected alongside defense — it is the very reason for that defense. And that means an artist’s work is a form of security work, performed without a helmet.
Music x Media will not present a finished plan. The "Finnish Cultural Forces" concept is being handed over to the industry as a work in progress. Only three things are set in stone: independence, the principle of "one member, one vote," and the requirement that nothing can be established without a solid foundation.
Together, we will build a funding model that the participants themselves can commit to — working in the same room with artists and industry professionals. The workshop will map out an artist’s year: where the work comes from, what the pay is, and how to keep artistic freedom intact.
The proposal goes forward, signed, for a decision on establishment. Honesty is built into the process: if a sufficient group of founders fails to materialize, nothing is established, and no one’s money is burned.
There are 25–40 spots available. Come and create, all perspectives matter!
