The event industry is flexible, creative, and fast-paced. It employs experts from a wide range of fields, and this diversity represents both an asset and a challenge. Workloads often peak seasonally, and stretching beyond standard hours to meet job demands is the rule rather than the exception. How can a more sustainable working life be built within the industry?
Development efforts require taking into account the specific characteristics of the operating environment within the cultural and live performance sectors. Open dialogue is needed—both within work communities and across the industry as a whole — to ensure fairness, justice, and equality, while simultaneously establishing a strong foundation for well-being at work and professional growth.
This discussion examines the ground rules of working life and the event industry from the perspectives of both employees and employers. We will also hear from the Helsinki Events Foundation about the creation of the event industry’s first public collective agreement — an initiative that could serve as an inspiration for other operators in the field.
