Music x Media’s Saturday will be enhanced with a new theme day called Fresh! by Music x Media, aimed at young people aged 16-29 interested in the music industry. Fresh! by Music x Media will take place at Tampere Hall on Saturday, October 5, 2024, and admission is free.

The event on Saturday is targeted at all young people interested in the music industry, offering diverse content such as artist development, content creation, music production, event management and working in record labels or live entertainment.

Behind the event are Music x Media and a group of partners from the industry. Fresh! by Music x Media continues with the same themes as the main event but focuses on young future professionals.

”We want to increase young people’s awareness and interest in the music, entertainment, and event industries. Creative fields offer various future employment opportunities, versatile career paths, and inspiring hobby opportunities. Fresh! makes these easily, interestingly, and freely accessible to young people,” describes Jani Jalonen, CEO of Music x Media.

”We also want to encourage professionals participating in Music x Media to come to the Saturday event to chat and network with the young people,” adds Petra Kytölä, operational director of Music x Media. ”Fresh! would be an excellent opportunity for many companies in the industry to be present, and there’s still room for inspiring programs and partnerships. If the idea resonates, feel free to contact us!”

Future creators meet industry professionals, workshops & discussions

Fresh! by Music x Media fills Tampere Hall with a diverse program on October 5, 2024, from 11 am to 4 pm. There will be speeches, various workshops, and opportunities to network and meet industry professionals.

”We have a large number of partners involved in creating the program with us, and there will be everything from songwriting to keynote speeches. The aim is also to bring together future creators with current industry professionals and offer mentoring and opportunities for young people to develop their skills,” continues Jalonen.

Workshops will include for example recording studios, beat-making, DJ-workshop, songwriting, and podcast recording. The workshops are made possible with the help of Helsinki Youth Services. “We’d like to bring our activities to a new, bigger platform, and showcase the opportunities for creating networks and developing skills.’’  says Rozza Dragoz from Helsinki Youth Services Events Unit.

Speech content will address various aspects of the music industry, with speakers at the event including singer-songwriter Hassan Maikal together with his manager Setumo Bodibe, and TikTok sensation SpotlightKiddo, aka Janne Raatikainen.

The rest of the program and schedule for the event, as well as the remaining speakers, will be announced later in the summer. The event’s program is being developed in collaboration with Tampere City Youth Services, Helsinki City Youth Services, Teosto, Gramex, and Tampere University of Applied Sciences/Media and Art.

Program continues at Monitoimitalo 13

After the program at Tampere Hall, Fresh! by Music x Media continues at Tampere City Youth Services’ cultural center, Monitoimitalo 13. There, attendees can explore the Monitoimitalo’s facilities such as recording studios, music and media workshops, and AV workshops. The evening will also feature additional programs related to the day’s themes and Stage13, an event aimed at aspiring bands.

”It’s great to be part of a new event concept that offers young people the opportunity to network in the music industry and participate in professional guidance for free. Many young people nowadays make music alone, so it’s important to provide a place where they can also meet others interested in the same topic. Networking can continue at the Monitoimitalo evening event after the main event,” comments Milka Uusitalo, producer at Tampere City Youth Services.

Both Tampere Hall and Monitoimitalo have free admission, but pre-registration is required for the event. Registration for the event will begin later in the summer.
