Finland’s biggest showcase festival Lost In Music, taking over Tampere venues in October, will announce more than 30 new names to its ever-growing programme. The announced artists include a wide range of genres from contemporary R&B to indie and modern metal to synth pop. The increasingly diverse artist roster also brings a bunch of new events to Tavara-asema, Telakka and Hönö, among others.
The first festival day of Lost In Music gets off to an explosive start with notable young artists at Tullikamari’s Klubi: rapidly rising star Aliisa Syrjä, TUULI, who has just released her debut album and has already streamed millions, and the duo emma & matilda, who play soft melancholic music. The first Lost In Music show at Telakka will bring Karin Mäkiranta from Karina and music all-rounder Mikko Pykäri together with their dream pop ensemble Babel, the ethereal Von Pearl by Helmi Tikkanen, also known from Karina, and the luminous pop singer Goldielocks. jambo, known for his laid-back hip house, who will join Lost In Music with his band, will complete the Thursday night at Tullikamari, and on Friday the same stage will be reinforced by Nisa with her fresh R&B sound, Tomi Saario with his sensitive expression and Pihlaja with her latino-inspired rhythms. The line-up for Saturday’s Tullikamari will be completed by Senya, who is known for her powerful and outspoken performances.
G Livelab’s Friday night will see the addition of two great up-and-coming artists, as actress and activist Elsi Sloan and nostalgic soft folk pop artist Satu Lii join the line-up for the first show of her new live band at Lost In Music. Friday’s special show at Yo-talo will feature rap artists starring cult legend Ex Tuuttiz, Emma Award-winning Pesso, Gada, who draws inspiration from old school American rap, and KAKKU, who likes to share big stories rapping. Saturday’s Tavara-asema show will feature strong interpretations from artist veteran Jarkko Martikainen, who enjoys a relentless live popularity, and more recent singer-songwriter promise Annika Pudas. The evening will be rounded off by Bottenviken from Sweden, who makes their own Swedish-sung versions of well-loved Finnish songs.
Lost In Music’s rock and metal side also gets a bunch of new, convincing reinforcements. The heavier section of the festival week will kick off with a line-up of three intriguing contemporary metal bands as Atlases, Mørket and Palehørse take on the stage. Lala Salama, a rock/indie pop act who has attracted attention abroad, joins Hönö’s Thursday line-up with young, newly signed metal promising LASTOUT. Thursday’s Yo-talo show will also see indie and rock living in harmony, with Finland’s best street rock act Nyrkkitappelu and Rebekka Holi, known for her outspoken lyrics, joining the festival programme. The action continues on Friday at both Hönö and Telakka, with the turn of moshimoshi, who has renewed Finnish guitar music with his own hands, Grande Mahogany, who performs funk rock with an authentic touch, new punk supergroup Kaksipäinen koira, cult band FM2000 and Krypta, who make new kind of Finnish occult rock. Melodic British-influenced rockers Penniless, power-pop punk rockers Aino & Hajonneet and country-inspired indie act Rakkaudella Janne will round off the Telakka festival week on Saturday.
Lost In Music’s evening of alternative electronic music in Olympia will be amplified by experimental musician Kaukolampi, also known as a film composer, and MODEM, a group of eerie dystopian synth pop musicians.
