Visitor satisfaction surveys highlighted feelings of safety, smooth organization, and top-tier programming. The festival atmosphere was perceived as inclusive and youth-oriented, blending uncompromising production, enthusiasm, and humor, especially in marketing and communication.

Blockfest 2024 also demonstrated remarkable adaptability: when a headliner canceled, Gunna was quickly secured as a replacement, and 21 Savage performed in Finland for the first time. The festival’s significance to both the Finnish and Nordic hip-hop scene is indisputable, having grown from a small enthusiast project into an internationally recognized major event. While continuing to enhance technical and visual aspects, the festival has maintained its core focus: delivering a world-class experience for the audience.

The festival provided a safe and inclusive environment where everyone could enjoy music and a positive atmosphere without the risks of substances or disturbances.

The 2025 festival theme, Migration, served as a consistent guiding thread in both the artist lineup and side programming, offering fresh perspectives on mobility and cultural exchange. Nominees:

Battery + Turisti – Moments Before the Big Moment
The Battery + Turisti collaboration is an excellent example of integrating an artist and a brand in a way that is both impactful and culturally significant. Launched in summer 2025, Hetkiin ennen h-hetkeä the campaign embedded Battery into Turisti’s everyday life and concert experience, visible across social media, public spaces, and retail locations. Materials depicting Turisti preparing backstage while drinking Battery created a relatable and stylish image of the brand as part of the artist’s preparation for major moments.

The campaign strengthened Battery’s position among younger audiences and increased brand awareness among under-25s. While not a sustainability initiative, its impact on Finnish advertising culture was historic: Turisti became the first POC artist to become the face of a major national brand, appearing in large-scale advertisements such as those at Eliel Square. This brought inclusion and diversity into brand marketing in a new way and opened doors for future talent from diverse backgrounds. The campaign reached hundreds of thousands through social media and events, and sales increased by +7.6% in June 2025 compared to the previous year, demonstrating commercial success. The campaign brought together the following partners: Battery (Sinebrychoff), Universal Music, Dentsu, N2, Ääri, and the artist Turisti. Battery (Sinebrychoff), Universal Music, Dentsu, N2, Ääri ja artisti Turisti.

Overall Hetkiin ennen h-hetkeä sets a benchmark for successful artist-brand partnerships. The concept of personal preparation aligned perfectly with Turisti’s persona, creating a multi-channel campaign that resonated with audiences and markets alike.

KUUMAA & PMMP – Joint Single Haloo x Mieli ry
Kuumaa and PMMP joined forces in a way that genuinely brought hope and light into a dark societal climate. The collaborative single Haloo was released at the end of 2024, encouraging fans to support MIELI ry’s fundraising for youth mental health. The song’s story — searching for a friend lost in darkness — resonated deeply, reminding listeners that help is available and can be asked for.

The power of the collaboration lay in the fact that neither band had planned new music, yet releasing this particular track felt essential. The project demonstrated that, beyond commercial collaborations, music can create something bigger: collective good. The campaign ultimately raised over €1 million for youth mental health work and sparked a wider public movement advocating for youth services.

The project was carried out with Universal Music, Warner Music, and MIELI ry, exemplifying how music and brand collaborations can have profound societal impact, giving voice to young people, strengthening third-sector operations, and showing that culture can be a source of hope and change.

Lidl x Erika Vikman: Lidl Kommt, Kommst du? Pride 2025
The Lidl x Erika Vikman: Lidl Kommt, Kommst du? campaign was one of the most talked-about collaborations of summer 2025, showcasing how a commercial brand can engage in genuinely values-driven and bold advertising. The campaign, built for Helsinki Pride, combined Lidl’s brand language with Erika Vikman’s strong queer aesthetic in a way that resonated widely across music, fashion, and retail audiences. The campaign was far from superficial: Erika’s persona, her song’s German references, and Lidl’s German roots fit together exceptionally naturally. The result was a striking, uncompromising, and playful project, with the core message “the courage to be yourself” reflected in the visuals and the eye-catching slogan “Lidl Kommt, Kommst du?”

The campaign achieved massive visibility. Pride-themed rainbow donuts quickly became a symbol of the campaign, with proceeds partly supporting equality initiatives. Lidl’s largest outdoor advertisements in Helsinki, front-page exposure in Helsingin Sanomat, and bold digital visuals ensured the message could not be ignored. Social media engagement soared, with both Erika Vikman’s and Lidl’s channels generating high viewership, reactions, and discussions, earning praise for authenticity and courage. The collaboration between Lidl, Mellakka Helsinki, Warner Music Finland, and AD Eero Böök’s team demonstrated how brand partnerships can be ambitious, commercially effective, and socially meaningful simultaneously. The stunning photos of Erika Vikman were taken by photographer Viivi Huuska.

Vuoden Harmain Päivä, 9.11.2024, Hartwall ja Nelonen Media
Vuoden Harmain Päivä on 9 November 2024 was a campaign by Hartwall and Nelonen Media that successfully transformed the gloomiest time of year into a shared celebration. The free public event at Senate Square attracted 8,000 attendees, centering on live music, community, and the Hartwall Long Drink brand. Solos were performed by Arttu Wiskari, Erika Vikman, JVG, Maija Vilkkumaa, and Samuli Putro, and the concert was broadcast live via Radio Suomipop and Ruutu, with a recording later available on IS TV.

The campaign was a multi-channel, participatory initiative combining live music, media content, and brand-building innovatively. It strengthened Hartwall Long Drink’s position by creating a brand day that emotionally engaged Finns, turning November’s grayness into pride and togetherness. The event also provided visible platforms for domestic artists and supported culture.

Results were impressive: the Senate Square concert attracted thousands in-person, the stream reached nearly 50,000 viewers, and the TV broadcast reached 588,000 people within a week, 127,000 on first airing. The campaign received extensive positive feedback from customers, viewers, listeners, artists, and partners.
