Music x Media

The Tampere Walk of Fame is celebrating its sixth anniversary with new stars added once again. Opened on the birthplace of Manserock, the Walk of Fame honors key Finnish and international music industry figures. This year, the stars were awarded to Heikki Silvennoinen, Dallapé, Lea Laven, and Dalia Stasevska.

Located on Åkerlundinkatu in the Tulli area, the Walk of Fame celebrates and recognizes significant contributors to both Finnish and international music. Every year, 3–8 new stars are added based on public nominations. To date, dozens of influential figures have been immortalized on the street. Interest in the selection was once again high, with a total of 1,634 suggestions submitted.

The Walk of Fame stars represent a wide variety of music styles and roles across the music industry. Diversity, nationwide representation, and equality were central in the selection process. The public could nominate anyone who has influenced the music field – artists, bands, songwriters, composers, producers, and representatives of organizations and institutions. Based on the public’s suggestions, the Music x Media board proposed the new stars, and the final decision was made by the City of Tampere’s Culture and Leisure Committee.

Last year, the Walk of Fame stars were awarded to Kaj Chydenius, Pave Maijanen, PMMP, Aino Ackté, Toivo Kärki, Jaakko Ryhänen, Juhani Merimaa, and Virve Rosti. In earlier years, the Walk of Fame has honored Vesa-Matti “Vesku” Loiri, HIM, Santtu-Matias Rouvali, Kikka, Antti Tuisku, Maija Vilkkumaa, Anna-Mari Kähärä, Jean Sibelius, Kaija Saariaho, Juice Leskinen, Popeda, Cheek, Katri Helena, Epe Helenius, Tapio Korjus, Eppu Normaali, Nightwish, Karita Mattila, Ismo Alanko, Paula Koivuniemi, Mikko Alatalo, Yö, Värttinä, Kaija Koo, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Jaakko Kuusisto, Hanoi Rocks, Erja Lyytinen, Heikki Salo, and Marion Rung.

The Walk of Fame Finland is a joint effort by the City of Tampere, Tampere Hall, Bauer Media, and Music x Media.
