Anjana Rajagopalan is a Composer – Producer, Vocalist, TEDx Speaker, Business Developer and Educator redefining the boundaries of global music. Hailing from India, she is acclaimed for her works in the Film, Marketing and World music spaces. Her works span the intersection of Pop, Expressive Jazz, Western Opera, Carnatic music, and contemporary genres – creating a sonic language that is entirely her own.
At the 2024 Tanweer Sharjah Desert Festival, she became the world’s first artist to blend Opera, Carnatic music, and Jazz in interpretive performance — sharing the stage with Lisa Gerrard (Voice of Gladiator) and Loire Cotler (Voice of Dune), Kamal Musallam (Oud) frequent collaborators of Hans Zimmer.
Her work spans continents and genres. As Principal Soloist, she has performed with the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra (Germany) and Shanxi Symphony Orchestra (China).
She serves as Music Producer, Orchestrator, and Business Developer at Firdaus Orchestra & Studio by A.R. Rahman in Dubai.
In film, She is currently composing for the feature film Zooni – Lost & Found with director Shaad Ali, veteran Muzaffar Ali and producer Danny O Malley from Chef’s table, Netflix. The film is set to release in 2026.
She delivered India’s first playback Opera Aria for the Tamil film Kolai (2023) and has collaborated with A.R. Rahman on multiple projects, and is Music Director for the Devi Oratorio with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
Anjana is deeply passionate about Humanitarian causes and driven by bold, socially resonant storytelling. She is collaborating with Leeza Mangaldas, India’s leading sex-positive advocate, on the Female Pleasure Project – using music as a vehicle for conversation around women’s experiences and bodily autonomy. She is currently developing a Musical film on Menopause.
A Visiting Professor at Krea University (SIAS) and faculty at the KM Music Conservatory by A.R. Rahman, she is also the founder of musical production studio Yazhiyam with over 15 years of teaching experience. A TEDx speaker and champion of inclusive education, Anjana teaches trans* women and children with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, embodying her belief that “music has no borders and neither should the people who make it.”
