As new digital technologies, rising consumer expectations, and shifting cultural habits upend business models, many players of the entertainment field need to rethink their relationship to audiences. Huge growth in content, the increasing number of content players, and innovative offerings have all helped to keep the consumer in the driver’s seat when it comes to decision-making.
At the same time many of today’s consumers might be confused about their digital entertainment possibilities, they do have more power than ever to decide what to consume, but can they make the right choices to improve their quality of life and feel well? When audiences have more and more power, how should the entertainment producers react to that and what is their responsibility and role in thinking about the welfare impacts and effects of entertainment?
