Art as a medium for social change
Art is at the heart of social change in its content and function. It can be used to bring difficult issues into the social spotlight, or things that shouldn’t be talked about. Sanna Salmenkallio, an award-winning film composer and musician, whose collection includes four Jussi statues and the Nordic Harpa award, will come to tell us about these.
At the core of Sanna’s work are values and she is a significant social influencer in many ways. Among other things, Sanna has composed music for politically and socially influential international documentaries, done numerous art projects with refugees and ran Porttiteatteri, where artistically ambitious art is made by a team of released prisoners and professional artists.
