The 2023 Music x Media dates are 4/10-7/10/2023. More information coming soon!

Music & Media was first held in Tampere in 1989. It has since brought together domestic and international music and media professionals.

The cross-sectoral program is designed to tackle themes relevant for not only the music industry, but for the creative field at large. The scope includes the film and TV industries, gaming industry, marketing and other audiovisual fields as well as their shared areas of development.

Music & Media also offers a unique and exciting opportunity for professionals to view showcase performances by a broad spectrum of Finland’s hottest new artists. Showcase festival Lost in Music presents 100 artists in the best venues around Tampere every autumn.

Getting to Tampere Hall

Tampere Hall has a central location that can be conveniently reached, just 500 meters from the bus and railway stations. Most of the hotels in Tampere are located within 2–15 minutes’ walk from Tampere Hall.

The street address is Yliopistonkatu 55, FI-33100 Tampere.

Accessibility in Tampere Hall

Accessibility is taken into notice between floors and seminar halls. The doorsteps are inclined, and doors will open automatically. The hallways and doors are wide, and there are notices when the steps in the stairs will end.

The staff of Tampere Hall is trained to guide and help people who have a physical or sensory disability.

By car

As the parking spaces in Tampere Hall’s outdoor car park are limited, we recommend using the park halls close to Tampere Hall: P-Tampere-talo, P-Tulli and P-Hämppi.

By train

Tampere is easily accessible by train from anywhere in Finland. The railway station is 500 meters from Tampere Hall, so you can easily walk through the sign-guided route. Timetables and ticket prices can be found on the VR website at www.vr.fi.

By bus

Tampere is easy to reach by long-distance bus. Buses to Tampere run from various ports, Helsinki International Airport and the biggest cities at approximately one-hour intervals. Tampere bus station is only 500 meters away.

Local buses stop right outside Tampere Hall. In summer a local bus 100 operates between the Moomin Museum and the Särkänniemi amusement park, stopping outside Tampere Hall.

Timetables:

  • Tampere public transport
  • Long-distance buses Matkahuolto and Expressbus

By taxi

Taxis stop right by the main entrance and also cater for disabled customers. For more information and to book a taxi, visit Taksi Tampere

By airplane

Tampere is also accessible by plane. It is located in Southern Finland, 175 kilometers north from Helsinki. There are excellent flight connections to Finland from all parts of the world and a growing number of routes to Tampere. The Tampere-Pirkkala airport is located 20 minutes from Tampere city center. For information on airports and their services, please visit the Finavia website.

The Walk of Fame pays tribute to music, artists and music professionals. Like its Hollywood-counterpart, Finland’s very own Walk of Fame consists of a line of stars paved on the streets of Tampere. The first stars were revealed in 2019, after which the street has grown its number of stars year by year.

The Walk of Fame celebrates and honors both Finnish and international names in the music industry. All names carved on the stars are chosen by a public vote. The winners of Tampere Music Awards, selected as part of Music x Media’s Industry Awards, are featured in the stars as well. The selections are made with the diversity of the winners as one of the main criteria.

By including the music heritage and stories in the urban street scene, Tampere brings more depth into the everyday passageway of locals and tourists alike.
