Jenni Ahtiainen
My name is Jenni Ahtiainen, and I’ve been designing accessories under my brand gTIE for almost 20 years. During my design career, I’ve had the opportunity to create some iconic pieces for musicians like Ville Valo, Amorphis, Kovacs, Bono, Snoop Dogg and Marilyn Manson. Deafmetal, however, was born from a very personal problem; reinventing the lifeless medical devices behind my ears into something that looked like me. Something that felt like me. Within the first year, Deafmetal became an award-winning innovation that spread across the globe like a wildfire. With Deafmetal jewelry accessories, people of all styles and cultures could not only personalize, but also securely attach their hearing devices with the jewelry’s unique safety features, creating a bridge between fashion design and practical problem-solving.
After years in the fashion industry, I finally feel that my designs are having a profound impact, empowering self-expression in a way that hadn’t existed, and opening up conversations around a rapidly growing hearing loss epidemic through the power of creativity and invention.
Building bridges. Solving problems.
