Horace is a professional saxophone player and ex-trade union leader. In the 1970’s and 80’s Horace was a founder member of the UK chart band ‘Darts’. Darts had a string of top ten hits in the UK and abroad and Horace wrote and recorded extensively for the band. Darts are still performing and Horace is still in the band.

During the late 1980’s Horace promoted events, managed bands and worked as a busy session musician. In the 1990’s Horace began working for the British Musicians’ Union (BMU) rising up through the ranks to become the BMU’s General Secretary. Horace retired from the BMU in 2022.

Horace is a member of the Royal Society of Musicians, Vice President of the International Federation of Musicians (FIM) and a director of the UK collecting society PPL. Horace has an honorary diploma in music teaching from Rock School Ltd and is a passionate advocate for improving performers’ rights.
